Support to Help Live Well with Dementia

Support Available through the Dementia Journey

Dementia Support Workers help people with dementia and their carers at the time of diagnosis and during the “dementia journey” to maintain their independence, improve their sense of well-being and take control of their own lives. They may be known as Dementia Advisors or Dementia Navigators.

It is important to recognise that there are an increasing number of options for housing in the community that offer supportive accommodation to those with dementia and their closest relatives in addition to care/ residential homes.

Local Support

There are many local groups who provide specific support for people with dementia, their family and carers. Such organisations are more usually linked to social care or the voluntary sector.
