Specialist support project
Everyone acknowledges how difficult it is in seeking support - especially after a diagnosis of dementia. The diagnosis may create very mixed emotions and coming to terms with it and obtaining the right information and help, although at first it may appear difficult, will enable you to plan well for the future.
Admiral Nurses are professional dementia nurses who give expert practical, clinical and emotional support to families living with dementia. We are working in partnership with local GP’s and community organisations to fund the recruitment of at least one Admiral Nurse for Tavistock and the surrounding area during 2019/2020. We need to raise approximately £125,000 to ensure the sustainability of this excellent service for two years. Can you help? Any donation would be greatly appreciated – no matter how small or large. Activities project
Social isolation and loneliness are significant issues for those with a dementia and their families and carers.
We are seeking to purchase a ‘Tovertafel’. What is that? Well it’s a magic table! An interactive light projector stimulates emotional, physical and social responses – resulting in moments of happiness shared between loved ones and friends. Our aim is to use this easily installed device to several locations around Tavistock – to gain maximum befit of stimulated social interaction - promoting cognitive activity as the professional would say. (We say playing games around a table is good for everyone!)
We have already secured £4,000 from the Big Lottery and we now need a further £2,500 to complete the project during the course of 2019. Can you help? Any donation would be greatly appreciated – no matter how small or large. Again, add Bacs detail or Paypal button.
